Sakhalin, Russia is looking at low carbon hydrogen production to help accelerate a low carbon industry.
Rusatom Overseas, Air Liquide and the Government of the Sakhalin region have joined forces to explore such opportunity, having last week (23rd April) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The inked agreement marks the first steps in fostering the development of a hydrogen economy targeting applications in both the domestic and overseas markets.
Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko has welcomed the move. In a statement, he said, “The Sakhalin Region is a unique sub-federal unit of Russia. It is located completely on islands, has rich resource potential and successfully neighbours with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. All this creates special conditions for business development and gives advantages for the implementation of a number of investment projects.”
