RINA and AFRY have undertaken an initial study of a potential hydrogen pipeline between the Gulf region and Europe.
The Gulf region is expected to become a leading producer of green and blue hydrogen and ammonia, due to its abundant renewable energy sources and natural gas reserves.
The study estimates that the potential pipeline could transport two and a half million tonnes of hydrogen annually and could supply it to Europe’s economic hub at levelized costs of delivered hydrogen of around 2.7EUR/kg starting from the 2030s.
