Repsol, Naturgy, and Reganosa have teamed up to develop a renewable hydrogen production plant in Meirama, Galicia, Spain, with potential of boasting up to 200MW of electrolyser capacity.
H2 View understands the plant is expected to have an initial electrolysis capacity of 30MW, scalable to a potential 200MW. The partners have said it will produce over 4,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year in its first phase and could reach up to 30,000 tonnes per annum.
Hydrogen produced from the Galicia site will be destined for industrial use at Repsol’s refinery in A Coruña, replacing grey hydrogen currently used. Other industries including mobility are expected to use the hydrogen, as well use mixing in the natural gas grid.
