The first UK-wide citizens’ assembly on climate change has published a report, setting out a clean, internally consistent and timely path for how the UK can reach its legally binding target of net zero emissions by 2050.
Released today, the report recognises the role of hydrogen in the future of heating, stating that the zero emission fuel “works with our current infrastructure and is easy to transition to.”
The Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) has praised the Climate Assembly for its recognition of hydrogen within the Path to Net Zero report.
Mike Foster, Chief Executive of EUA, said, “They need to reduce our carbon emissions is a given, but we must remember that ultimately the consumer is at the centre of that journey. Being selective in our approach to low carbon heating will cost the consumer and the planet.”
