RENK Group has announced it will supply special gearboxes to the SALCOS project for the production of green steel utilising hydrogen.
The SALCOS (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) project is led by the Salzgitter AG steel group and will receive three high-speed special gear units via RENK-Maag GmbH, compressors to produce green steel to Siemens Energy Compressors.
After the gear units are developed and built at RENK’s site in Winterthur, Switzerland, they are used in the Salzgitter direct reduction plant in Siemens’ compressors.
