Renault Group has unveiled its new hydrogen-electric concept vehicle, designed to achieve a range of 620 miles.
Announced at the Mondial de l’Auto 2024, the Renault Embléme demo car forms part of the French manufacturing firm’s decarbonisation strategy, targeting carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and worldwide by 2050.
The vehicle will encompass a 40kWh battery beneath the floor and a 2.8kg hydrogen fuel cell in the front to power its 215hp motor.
European specialist in intelligent electric vehicles Ampere is “spearheading” the group’s decarbonisation drive. Together, the two companies are continuing the exploratory studies initiated in 2022 with the Scénic Vision concept.

H2 View understands that the vehicle will emit 90% less carbon dioxide over its entire lifecycle compared to a current equivalent. It aims to achieve a 70% reduction in the carbon footprint of its components, utilising 50% recycled materials, with nearly all designed for recyclability at the end of the vehicle’s life.
“Embléme embodies our ecosystem approach and the level of our ambition when it comes to building a sustainable future through technological innovation,” explained Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group and CEO at Ampere.
“It is proof that automotive is still driving progress – keeping emotion in the equation. An average internal combustion engine (ICE) has a 50-tonne footprint. For Embléme, it’s 5 tonnes, cradle to grave. It’s a masterpiece.”
