The ‘Economic Value of Hydrogen for Domestic Heat in the UK’ report has found that a developed hydrogen industry could bring in £124bn ($151.3bn) and 1.6 million jobs.
UK gas distributor Cadent commissioned PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to undertake the report, which set out how the use of hydrogen for domestic heat could contribute £15bn and 189,000 jobs to the UK economy before 2035.
Furthermore, a wider hydrogen supply chain, including the production and supply of hydrogen for transport, power generation, and commercial and industry use, will potentially lead to a total £124bn of economic value with over one million jobs created or retained by 2050.
