Environmental consulting services company Ricardo has received provisional funding for the construction of a new hydrogen engine development facility in the South East of England.
Set to be located at one of the company’s existing conventional engine test cells at its Shoreham Technical Centre in West Sussex, the facility will fast forward the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles as an emission-free and environmentally friendly solution.
To enable the development of the planned facility, Ricardo applied for funding from the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership’s allocation granted from the UK Government’s overarching Getting Building Fund.
Subject to the funding award, the project will provide a hydrogen generation, storage and transmission infrastructure designed to supply pressurised gas to an enhanced engine development test facility which can be used for R&D tests on hydrogen-fuelled engines and powertrains.
