Swedish fuel cell manufacturer PowerCell has signed an agreement for deliveries of hydrogen solutions to two ships that operate on a Norwegian ferry connection, valued at €19.2m ($20.4m).
Signed with SEAM, the Norwegian zero-emission maritime firm will be responsible for the delivery of propulsion, control, and safety systems, with the PowerCell’s products expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024.
H2 View understands PowerCell will supply its Marine System 200, enabling the ferries to produce approximately 12MW of power. Fuelled by green hydrogen, the companies say the systems could cut carbon dioxide emissions by 26,500 tonnes per year.
