PowerCell Sweden has joined an EU project that will develop and operate a hydrogen-powered refuse truck for western Sweden’s leading environmental enterprise within recycling and waste management, Renova.
Once completed, the truck will be deployed on roads in Swedish city Gothenburg, an area that wants to increase testing of fuel cell-powered refuse trucks.
The truck and its operation will be partly funded by the EU project REVIVE (Refuse Vehicle Innovation and Validation in Europe), which has an objective to accelerate the development of hydrogen-fuelled refuse trucks in Europe.
Both PowerCell and Renova have been approved as project partners in REVIVE, which has received funding from the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking.
