Portugal Prime Minister Antonio Costa has resigned after being investigated for alleged corruption involving lithium mine concessions and a green hydrogen plant.
The claims relate to mining lithium in the north of the country and production of hydrogen at Sines, south of Lisbon. Up to 140 police officers searched the Prime Minister’s residence and several ministers, according to reports. The Prime Minister denies the charges.
As part of an investigation conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Department Central for Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP), diligences are being carried out for the identification and seizure of documents and other means of Proof of interest for the discovery of the truth, according to a DCIAP statement.
