Nikola is set to supply Total Transportation Services (TTSI), one of South California’s prominent port trucking companies, with 100 Nikola trucks powered by battery and fuel cells.
With a Letter of Intent (LOI) established between the two companies, the collaboration will include vehicle trials of the Class eight battery-electric (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) semi-trucks in an attempt to decarbonise the port of Los Angeles.
The Nikola Tre BEV is designed for local deliveries up to 350 miles away whereas the Tre FCEV truck is targeting longer distances with a range of up to 500 miles and is expected to address the majority of the North American regional market.
