Germany’s Port of Duisburg has today (Dec 17) confirmed plans for climate-neutral terminal powered by hydrogen – and its set to be operational by 2030 with support from several industry partners.
As Europe’s largest inland port, the Port of Duisburg’s effort highlights the exact role hydrogen could play in future port developments and transform those that are already operational today.
Focusing specifically on the Port of Duisburg, plans include several technologically sophisticated options for energy conversion and storage, and this is where Rolls-Royce will have a part to play with its mtu fuel cell solutions for electric peak load coverage.
Other project partners include the likes of Cosco Shipping Logistics, Hupac SA, and the HTS Group.
