Plans to transform Teesside into a Hydrogen Transport Hub have been unveiled by the UK Government.
In order to pursue the ambitious goal, the Department for Transport (DfT) has commissioned a masterplan to understand the feasibility of the hub and how it can accelerate the UK’s ambitions in hydrogen.
Expected to be published in January, the masterplan will pave the way for exploring how green hydrogen could power buses, heavy goods vehicles, rail, maritime and aviation transport.
The new centre will be built next to the TWI Technology Centre in Middlesbrough. Tees Valley Mayor Ven Houchen and Government Transport Minister Rachel Maclean yesterday visited the centre to announce the plans.
