It has been reported that Glasgow City Council has cancelled the plans to purchase 19 hydrogen-powered trucks for £7m ($8.7m).
Due to technical and cost difficulties the plans were scrapped, with the council now focusing on low-emission diesel and petrol vehicles instead, using the £7m available to buy a range of electric vehicles (EVs).
Not purchasing the hydrogen fuel cell refuse collection vehicles has altered the council’s 2020 to 2030 fleet strategy, claiming the market is not mature enough.
