US President Joe Biden will today (October 13) announce that two hydrogen hubs in Pennsylvania will be among those receiving a share of $7bn in federal grants, according to reports.
The administration plans to award funding to between six and 10 hubs from a pool of $7bn from the US Department of Energy (DOE) as part of its $8bn Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs (H2Hubs) programme under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
In January (2023), the DOE said of 79 applications received 33 prospected hubs had been shortlisted for between $400m and $1.25bn of federal funding.
Reuters has reported that sources have confirmed the Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2) between Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2) involving Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania will today be named as two of the successful hubs.
