US-based PCC Hydrogen has announced today (June 8) the issuance of its patented hydrogen production technology for coupling an electrolyser system with a catalytic adiabatic reactor to convert ethanol into hydrogen.
Under the US Patent 11,649,549, PCC’s method leverages ethanol’s biogenic characteristics and capturing pure carbon dioxide (CO2) by-product to produce what the company says is a “negative carbon index hydrogen product.”
According to PCC, the process can produce hydrogen pure enough to be use in applications ranging from hydrogen combustion engines to fuel cells.
