P2X Solutions has begun commercial operations of green hydrogen at its 20MW Harjavalta production plant in Finland.
Beginning commercial operations has given P2X Solutions a “competitive advantage,” according to the company’s CEO, Herkko Pilt.
“We recommend companies start deploying green hydrogen and electric fuels before the mandatory legislation enters into force, as the change will take time,” Pilt stressed.
“My message to companies is: Don’t wait for the change, make it happen.”
He added that Finland is in a great position to “develop into a superpower” in clean hydrogen and its derivative electric fuels, adding that he “hopes many projects will follow suit.”
H2 View understands that P2X Solutions is planning additional hydrogen plants, including a 40MW facility in Joensuu and a 100MW plant in Oulu.
Last month, P2X Solutions secured a five-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Fortum to source renewable energy for the Sunfire electrolyser being used at the Harjavalta plant.

The PPA is set to expire in 2029, when the monthly matching basis ends in Europe and requirements transition to hourly matching.
By locking in renewable power under this five-year agreement, P2X Solutions ensures that its green hydrogen production plant in Finland is compliant with current EU regulations while preparing for the change to hourly matching in the future.
