P2H2 and partners successfully demonstrate industrial scale AEM hydrogen production

Power to Hydrogen (P2H2) has completed the first demonstration using anion exchange membrane (AEM)-based electrolysis stack for hydrogen production.

The first phase was successfully finished in partnership with American Electric Power (AEP), EDP, E.ON and Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and was focused on showcasing an integrated system based on P2H2’s patented hybrid liquid alkaline / AEM stack design.

Taking place at AEP’s US facility in Columbus, Ohio, Phase 1 of the project used an AEM-based stack that was four times larger “than has ever been installed with a customer to date,” according to the statement released by P2H2.
