Hydrogen-fuelled fire engines could be a near-term reality in the UK.
Pushing this vision forward, ULEMCo today (August 12) said it has joined forces with Oxfordshire Country Council and its Fire and Rescue Service to design a fuel cell electric powertrain for such innovations.
Working under the project name HySPERT, the consortium will soon access the specific duty cycles needed for emergency service vehicles that need 24/7 readiness and energy to run for four to 40 hours continuously.
