A two-megawatt electrolysis plant with hydrogen storage will be constructed in Denmark by Danish power company Ørsted along with its project partners.
Last week, the H2RES project, a demonstration project for renewable hydrogen production, was awarded KR 34.6m (€4.6m) for the demonstration project which will use offshore wind power to produce renewable hydrogen for road transport.
The plant is expected to produce approximately 600kg of hydrogen a day, which is enough to power 20-30 buses, while also making testing its use in lorries and taxis possible.
“Renewable hydrogen could potentially form a cornerstone of Denmark’s ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 70% in 2030 and of the transition to a world that runs entirely on green energy,” said Anders Nordstrøm, Vice-President and Head of Ørsted’s hydrogen activities.
