Ørsted backs out of green hydrogen projects in shift away from e-fuels

Danish offshore wind developer Ørsted is backing out of two green hydrogen projects as it pivots away from green fuels, according to reports.

The company is pulling out of the Green Fuels for Denmark initiative, a 300MW green hydrogen-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project that had secured DKK 600 million in EU IPCEI funding, along with its related H2RES pilot project.

Involving players such as Maersk, Copenhagen Airports, DFDS, DSV, Topsoe, Nel and Everfuel, the project was set to produce hydrogen for e-kerosene.
