Ohio, US, to develop a hydrogen power plant on the site of a former uranium enrichment facility

Ohio, US, will gain a new hydrogen power plant with the potential to drive decarbonisation into the heart of the US state.

As revealed by the Columbus Dispatch, the Southern Ohio Diversification Initiative, an economic development group working with Ohio University and the Texas company Newpoint Gas, will produce low-carbon hydrogen from natural gas when operational.

This is expected to be operational in 2027 however will initially generate 300MW of power to generate both hydrogen and ammonia for several industries.
