Octopus Energy Generation and RES have announced its green hydrogen joint venture HYRO will ensure gas will be swapped for green hydrogen in UK facilities.
On-site electrolysers will be deployed at two Kimberly-Clark manufacturing facilities and will use electricity produced from renewable sources to create green hydrogen, which will be stored and fed into the factory’s hydrogen-ready boilers.
The two electrolyser projects in Wales and Kent will have a combined capacity of 22.5MW and are expected to reduce thousands of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually. They have also won places on the Government’s shortlist for funding.
