Nu:ionic Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Liberty Utilities to develop a 2.4 tonne per day hydrogen production system in New Brunswick, Canada.
The system will utilise Nu:ionic’s proprietary Microwave Catalytic Reformers™ (MCRs) to pilot the blending of hydrogen into natural gas, signifying the first commercial application of Nu:ionic’s technology using microwave energy to decarbonise natural gas with electrified reforming.
The MCRs eliminate the need for fuel combustion as they can reduce the amount of feedstock required to produce hydrogen and significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while also allowing for the use of renewable electricity to reduce the carbon footprint of the natural gas.
