Clean hydrogen production in the commercial nuclear power market is set to be pursued following an agreement between Westinghouse Electric Company and Bloom Energy.
The companies today (June 6) announced that they have entered a Letter of Intent to jointly develop an optimised and large-scale, high temperature integrated electrolysis solution for the nuclear industry.
It is believed nuclear plants are well-positioned to use electrolyser technology to produce large quantities of clean hydrogen, with little disruption to existing operations, due to the ability to operate 24/7, providing ‘high quality steam input’.
