Norwegian Hydrogen acquires green hydrogen project from Aker Horizon and inks deal with Nel

Norwegian Hydrogen has acquired Aker Horizon’s hydrogen project in Rjukan, Norway, and plans to continue developing a 25MW production plant there.

As part of the deal, the green hydrogen producer will take over the existing power purchase agreement (PPA) signed with Tinn Energi, to ensure the project has access to renewable energy.

Additionally, Norwegian Hydrogen has entered into a Letter of Intent with electrolyser manufacturer Nel to deliver a pressurised alkaline electrolysis plant for the 25MW plant, which could be scaled up. However, Nel revealed last week that it will temporarily halt production of its alkaline technology in Herøya due to slow uptake.
