No Dutch hydrogen projects have passed FID despite increased demand: ICIS

Despite considerable growth in hydrogen demand across the Netherlands, no projects in the country have progressed further than the development phases.

ICIS’ Hydrogen Foresight found that future low-carbon hydrogen demand increased by almost 14% over the six months prior to April 2024. However, the data also shows a lack of projects reaching Final Investment Decisions (FID).

The data also reported that production capacity increased to approximately 17GW by 2040 as of April 2024, with 74% of this capacity forecasted to be online by 2035.
