What a difference a few months can make. Four months ago coronavirus was a little-known technical term used by a minority of people to describe a family of viruses causing cold-like symptoms.
Today, the word coronavirus is used commonly in conversations all over the world daily as the global pandemic continues to unfold at a staggering pace taking lives and decimating livelihoods and the normal functioning of society.
These are unprecedented times we are living in. At the time of writing, there are currently more than three million cases of coronavirus and more than 230,000 deaths reported globally.
As a result of lockdowns triggered by the pandemic, airlines have ground their fleets, car travel has been brought to a minimum and industries have shut down, leading to levels of carbon dioxide emissions plummeting.
