Nikola has secured a new hydrogen refuelling location in northern California as it looks to connect users with the south of the state.
The location in West Sacramento will host a compact, high-pressure refueller from the truck OEM’s infrastructure brand Hyla.
Under the first phase of development, the station at 917 Stillwater Rd. will be capable of fuelling up to 20 Class 8 trucks a day.
This is the firm’s first official Hyla station in northern California, and it joins its two existing stations in Ontario and Santa Fe Springs.

“West Sacramento marks a significant milestone for Nikola and offers convenient access for our fleet customers based in West Sacramento and its surrounding areas,” said Nikola’s President of Energy, Ole Hoefelmann.
Nikola plans to add refuelling along the north-south I-5 freight corridor running through California, Oregon and Washington.
In August last year, Nikola was awarded a combined $58.2m in funding from local agencies to build a network of seven hydrogen refuelling stations in California.
Using a mobile refueller model, Hyla offers 700 bar hydrogen for heavy-duty trucks coupled with 960kg of tube trailer storage.

California State Senator, Christopher Cabaldon, said the new refuelling station would help accelerate the adoption of zero-emission trucks in the state.
