Nikola Corporation is advancing its autonomous refuelling technologies to enable fast, efficient, and safe fuelling of a large onboard storage system in less than 20 minutes for heavy-duty vehicles.
The zero-emission vehicle manufacturer today (August 12) said it has received a $2m grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to support research into the technologies that will advance future hydrogen station developments.
It is believed that Nikola’s endeavour will develop an rapid autonomous fuelling system that minimises labour and challenges related to ergonomics and maintenance of equipment.
Welcoming the support, Pablo Koziner, President of Energy and Commercial at Nikola, said, “This funding is essential to advance key hydrogen fuelling technologies that can improve the overall efficiency of fuel-cell commercial vehicles, while maintaining the safety and reliability standards required.
