New Zealand’s Transport Minister, Michael Wood, has released a report highlighting the need to phase out fossil fuel vehicles by 2050 which could see a switch to hydrogen-powered vehicles.
The report ‘Transport Emissions: Pathways to Net Zero by 2050’ suggests that several initiatives must be brought in to increase the fuel efficiency of vehicle imports and phase out internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle imports by 2035.
This should then increase the use of bioethanol and hydrogen vehicles on the path to a complete ICE vehicle ban by 2050.
