New process for high-purity hydrogen production

Hydrogen researchers at Austria’s Graz University of Technology, along with a Graz-based start-up Rouge H2 Engineering, have developed a cost-effective process for the decentralised production on high-purity hydrogen.

As part of the Hydrogen Storage via Oxidation and Reduction of Metals (HyStORM) project, the research team developed a “chemical-looping hydrogen method”, a process for decentralised and climate-neutral hydrogen production.

Since the project, the research success has resulted in a compact and space-saving on-site, on-demand (OSOD) system for filling stations and energy plants and is being developed and distributed by Rouge H2 Engineering.
