New partnership to develop New Zealand’s first hydrogen station network

Fuelling company Waitomo Group and green energy supplier Hiringa Energy have partnered to develop New Zealand’s first nationwide hydrogen refuelling station network.

Through the partnership, the New Zealand-based companies will collaboratively assess the detailed engineering requirements and consenting for the network of hydrogen refuelling sites.

Initial locations for the stations have been selected, with plans for a further 20 stations to be developed across both North and South Island. Development and consenting for the first hydrogen refuelling sites are set to begin this year.

Andrew Clennett, Hiringa Energy CEO and Co-Founder says the partnering brings together the complementary skills and strengths of two future-focused companies to provide leadership in the development of hydrogen as a viable alternative fuel source for New Zealand.
