Nel has revealed plans to grow its US electrolyser manufacturing base with a new automated gigafactory in Michigan.
Once fully developed the site is planned to boast 4GW of production capacity for alkaline an PEM electrolyser, building on its automated alkaline manufacturing concept developed at its factory in Herøya, Norway.
Expected to take up to $400m of investment, the factory will be built in phases to match supply with demand. Nel has also said a final investment will require a separate decision.
