Motor Oil orders €19.8m 30MW electrolyser plant for Greek refinery

A Greek oil and gas major has ordered a 30MW electrolyser plant, featuring Chinese stack technology, from Sweden’s Metacon to partially replace grey hydrogen used in its refining processes.

Motor Oil (Hellas) Corinth Refineries awarded Metacon a €19.8m ($21.6m) supply contract for the pressurised alkaline electrolysis plant, which will be based on Chinese-based PERIC’s stack technology.

The refinery set to receive the electrolyser system, located in Ag. Theodori, Corinth, is among the largest private industrial complexes in Greece, processing a variety of crude oil and manufacturing a range of oil products.
