Modern Hydrogen, Washington utility to assess distributed methane pyrolysis roll-out

Modern Hydrogen has partnered with a Washington-based utility to explore deploying its distributed methane pyrolysis technology across the US state.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) inked the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Modern Hydrogen to work on commercial and industrial customer decarbonisation plans, market analysis and evaluating deployments.

The thermal process breaks down natural gas from the grid into hydrogen and solid carbon. A portion of the hydrogen is used to sustain the pyrolysis process, while the remainder is captured for external use.
