Mitsubishi Power will supply what it claims is the first solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) in Europe to a project in Essen, Germany by March 2022.
The highly efficient hybrid system will be put into operation at the Gas- und Warme-Insistut Essen where flexible operation of the SOFC and the proportional use of hydrogen as a fuel gas will be researched under real conditions.
The Hybrid-SOFC from Mitsubishi Power will play a central role in the KWK.NRW 4.0 research project.
Mitsubishi Power said this Hybrid-SOFC can theoretically supply electricity to a large office building, a hospital or about 300 houses with electricity and heat.
