Clean chemistry company Mattiq recently unveiled its portfolio of novel, highly durable alternatives to iridium, in a bid to make clean hydrogen production more cost-effective.
Iridium is a rare and costly element of proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysers, so Mattiq is aiming to identify new alternatives that could meet or exceed performances, with a much lower cost and greater availability.
The company believes that by deploying iridium alternatives, it can support the acceleration of hydrogen production and in particular, support the Regional Hydrogen Hub programme in the US.
