UAE renewable energy firm Masdar has signed a joint development agreement with the Jordanian government to develop a 1GW wind project and a separate memorandum to explore establishing a green hydrogen plant.
Signed in the side-lines of COP28, the study will look into the feasibility of setting up a green hydrogen project near the Port of Aqaba to produce the “most cost-competitive hydrogen.”
Under the plans, Masdar and the Jordanian Ministry of energy and Mineral Resources will look to use desalinated seawater and dedicated renewable power to produce green hydrogen.
