SoCalGas wants to develop what it says will be the US’ largest green hydrogen infrastructure system to deliver clean, reliable energy to the city of Los Angeles, and has today (Feb 17) submitted a proposal for its plans.
Dubbed Angeles Link, the effort could see the utility company convert up to four natural gas power plants to green hydrogen, displace up to three million gallons of diesel from trucks each day with hydrogen, and eliminate nearly 25,000 tonnes of smog annually.
Through focusing on the US’ largest manufacturing hub, it is hoped SoCalGas’ effort will cut demand for natural gas, diesel and other fossil fuels in the LA Basin ad help accelerate California’s climate and clean air goals.
