Loop Energy has unveiled its ‘landmark’ 120kW fuel cell system, which it claims could help achieve fuel cost parity with diesel by up to eight years earlier than previously possible.
The Canadian fuel cell innovator has revealed details of its new S1200 system which it says builds on its existing technology, providing an additional 20% in efficiency, reaching up to 60% net system efficiency, compared to 44% typical fuel efficiency of a diesel engine.
When integrated into an electric vehicle, Loop says the fuel cell can deliver up to 54% fuel to wheel efficiency, compared to the typical fuel to wheel efficiency of a diesel engine at 20-25%.
