A five-year collaborative effort that aims to address the need to accelerate development and demonstration of low and zero-carbon energy technologies, including hydrogen, has this week celebrated a major milestone.
The Low-Carbon Resources Initiative (LCRI) has surpassed $100m in funding, adding its 33rd sponsor, Xcel Energy.
Led by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Gas Technology Institute (GTI), the global collaboration will:
- Identify and accelerate development of promising technologies from around the world
- Demonstrate and assess the performance of key technologies and processes and identify possible improvements
- Inform key stakeholders and the public about technology options and potential pathways to a low-carbon future.
The effort will improve the strength, efficiency, and resiliency of the US energy grid and reduce impact on the environment.
