Scottish-based Logan Energy has today (October 4) revealed it has been selected to install hydrogen production technology at a wastewater treatment plant in Cambridgeshire, UK, as part of an initiative to cut carbon emissions.
Led by Anglian Water, the project will see Logan supply and install an electrolyser at the plant to investigate using treated wastewater for the production of hydrogen and oxygen, powered by renewable energy.
According to the companies, hydrogen produced from the plant could be used in fuel cells, for displacing diesel generators, or for local transport. Additionally, oxygen from the process will be used within a wastewater treatment process which hopes to reduce nitrous oxide emissions.
