Linde has broken ground on its new state-of-the-art hydrogen liquefier plant in Leuna, Germany, scheduled to online in 2021.
The world’s largest industrial gases group said the new plant will be the most modern of its kind and able to produce up to 10 tonnes of liquid hydrogen per day.
Linde said the hydrogen in the new plant will be liquefied at a temperature of -253 degrees Celcius and then loaded for trucking at special filling levels.
In liquid form, hydrogen has a much higher energy content per unit volume than in a gaseous compressed state.
