Lhyfe to support hydrogen-powered train project with production plant

Lhyfe has agreed to build and operate a green hydrogen production plant to serve DB Energie’s plans for zero-emission trains.

Developed together with Deutsche Bahn, the facility will be located at DB Energie’s Tübingen innovation hub in Germany and is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 30 tonnes.

The 1MW plant will use green electricity from Deutsche Bahn’s portfolio to produce green hydrogen for DB Energie’s H2goesRail project.

The initiative will use the green hydrogen to power a zero-emission train that will be put into operation this year on a test route in Baden-Württemberg, between Tübingen, Horb and Pforzheim.
