France’s Lhyfe has launched plans for a 20MW grid-powered green hydrogen plant in North Tyneside, coming as its first in the UK.
Expected to be produce up to eight tonnes of hydrogen per day, the plant is planned to be built on the brownfield four-acre site a previous power station on Wallsend, North Tyneside.
Lhyfe has said it plans to use “green electricity from the grid,” complying with the UK Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard which says hydrogen producers must meet a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity of 20g CO2e/MJLHV or less to be considered low-carbon.
