Levidian and United Utilities have showcased waste-to-hydrogen production technology to representatives from the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
Capable of producing hydrogen and graphene from biogas as a fully sustainable feedstock, the patented LOOP technology will enable United Utilities to produce its own on-site hydrogen for heavy-duty fleets.
The project received £3m ($3.8m) of funding from the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio’s (NZIP) BECCS Innovation Programme last year (2023), to ensure Levidian’s LOOP100 system is installed at United’s Manchester Bioresources Centre to decarbonise biogas produced there.
