Johnson Matthey and bp have been selected to supply their co-developed Fischer Tropsh technology to EDL Anlagenbau Gesellschaft’s hydrogen-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Germany.
The HyKero plant in Böhlen-Lippendorf is planned to produce 50,000 tonnes of SAF per year once fully operational, in addition to 14,000 tonnes of naphtha and around 1,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
Located to serve Leipzig-Halle international airport, the first phase of the project is planned to be online 2027, while EDL anticipates a potential future phase could add an additional 75,000 tonnes of eSAF capacity.
