Jaguar Land Rover is developing a hydrogen fuel cell-powered powertrain, the prototype of which is set to be tested on UK roads within the next 12 months.
The carmaker confirmed the news today (15th Feb) as part of plans to “reimagine” the future of Jaguar Land Rover as the company strives to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its supply chain, products and operations by 2039.
Jaguar Land Rover said in line with the maturing of the hydrogen economy, development is already underway of a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain which will arrive on UK roads within the next 12 months, as part of a long-term investment programme.
Speaking at a press conference today, Thierry Bolloré, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, said, “We have something truly unique at Jaguar Land Rover, truly unique in the automotive industry and now is the time to realise its potential.”
